Who we are

HEIC Converter (https://freeheic.com) is run by FreeHEIC, the controller of the personal data described in this policy. You can reach us at contact@freeheic.com.

This policy explains what we collect, why, how long we keep it and the choices you have. We collect as little as we can.

Your files stay on your device

The tools on HEIC Converter process your files directly in your browser. Your files are not uploaded to our servers, and we cannot see, store or share them.

Results are created on your device and are gone when you close or reload the page.

Analytics

We use Google Analytics 4 to understand how the site is used: pages viewed, which tools are started, completed or fail, how many files are added, downloaded or removed and their total size, the settings chosen (for example the output format or quality), how long processing takes, approximate location (country or city), and device and browser type. We never send file names or file contents to Google Analytics.

In the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom and Switzerland, analytics cookies are only set after you consent. Without consent, Google Analytics receives only limited, cookieless signals (Google Consent Mode). Google acts as our processor: https://policies.google.com/privacy.

Advertising

HEIC Converter shows ads through Google AdSense. Google and its partners may use cookies and similar technologies to show ads, limit how often you see them, measure their performance and, with your consent, personalize them based on your visits to this and other websites.

Visitors in the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom and Switzerland are asked for consent through a consent message certified by Google (IAB TCF v2.2). You can change your choice at any time with the “Privacy settings” link at the bottom of every page. How Google uses information from sites that use its services: https://policies.google.com/technologies/partner-sites.

Premium subscribers do not see ads, and the advertising code is not loaded for them.

Hosting and server logs

The site is hosted on Google Firebase Hosting and Google Cloud. Like any web server, they log technical data such as your IP address, browser type and the pages requested, to deliver the site and protect it against abuse. These logs are kept for a limited time.

Data stored in your browser

We keep a few things in your browser’s local storage so the site works: your premium access token (if you have premium) and your settings. This data stays on your device and you can clear it at any time in your browser settings.

Legal bases

We rely on your consent for analytics and advertising cookies where consent is required, on the performance of a contract for premium subscriptions, on legal obligations for invoices and tax records, and on our legitimate interest in running a secure and reliable service for server logs.

How long we keep data

We keep personal data only as long as needed for the purposes above: analytics data for 14 months, server logs for up to 30 days, and payment records for as long as tax and accounting law requires (often up to 10 years).

Your rights

Depending on where you live, you can ask us for access to your personal data, to correct or delete it, to restrict or object to its processing, and to receive it in a portable format. Where we rely on consent, you can withdraw it at any time without affecting earlier processing.

Children

HEIC Converter is not directed to children under 16, and we do not knowingly collect their personal data.

Changes to this policy

We update this page when our practices change and show the date of the last update at the top.
